Vicksburg woman turns 101-years-old

Vicksburg resident Bertha Hudson Drake celebrated turning 101-years-old on Saturday where she was surrounded by her family and friends.

The celebration was held held at the Knights of Columbus where many people stepped in and shared kind words about Drake. She also shared a few wise words of her own.

Family members from all over came to visit Drake on her special day along with members of the community, including Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace who sung at the event.

Throughout the day many people shared stories and memorable moments about Drake as she continued to tell everyone to “Trust in the Lord and do good.”

Born in 1922 in Hollandale, Mississippi, Drake is the fourth of seven children and the only surviving member. She is the mother of seven children Charles, LeAndrew, Betty, Florean, Billy, Mildred, and Lois. She also has over 100 grandchildren and was married to Mr. Leon Drake for 68 years until his death in 2012.
